Mountain Lions tame Bobcats 14-4

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Seven different players found the back of the net as Young Harris College dominated Lees-McRae College 14-4 in a non-conference men's lacrosse match Thursday (March 20) afternoon at the YHC Lacrosse Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 5-3 while the Bobcats remained winless in 10 attempts. Young Harris returns to action April 6 when they travel to Demorest, Ga., for a 7 p.m. contest against Piedmont College.

The Mountain Lions jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first quarter as Ronnie Adams, Andrew Kim and Jeff Rivait scored goals over a three-minute stretch midway through the period. Mason McBroom added an early goal in the second quarter before Kyle Judge scored the Bobcats' first goal. Mike Matthews scored on a man-advantage with 7:32 remaining in the half as that started three consecutive goals by Young Harris to open up a 7-1 lead after Ryan Ningard scored with 6:19 left.

Lees-McRae got a late goal in the second quarter and added another one in the first three minutes of the third quarter to get within four goals at 7-3; however, the Mountain Lions thwarted any comeback as they scored the next six goals to open a 13-3 lead after Rivait scored his fourth strike with 3:11 remaining in the match.

Adams scored three times for the Mountain Lions while Ningard and McBroom added two each. Tyler Price, Matthews and Kim scored once. Bobby Parker recorded eight saves while Alex Naftal had one between the pipes for Young Harris, which nearly held a 2-to-1 advantage in shots (39-20) and a 37-21 margin in ground balls as the Mountain Lions won 13 of the 22 faceoffs contested.
